Completing studies in college and university can be an overwhelming experience for some. It can be seen as a major transition where one would have to navigate what could be complex systems affecting both educational and personal outcomes. Many post-secondary students reach out for support with managing the transition and stress of independent living, isolation and loneliness, balancing well-being and academic concerns, time management and relationships.
Additionally, post-secondary students may experience concerns related to test anxiety and academic performance, career/vocational exploration and planning, and addressing accommodation support for disability-related needs including ADHD, learning disabilities and mental health.
What Counselling Can Help with:
- Dealing with life changes and transitions
- Managing academic stress
- Depression and anxiety
- Difficulties in relationships
- Feelings of loneliness and isolation
- Substance use concerns
- Navigating school with a disability (ex. ADHD, learning disabilities, physical health disability, mental illness)
Students registered at a post-secondary institution may have access to an extended health plan that can cover the cost of seeing a mental health professional. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns about navigating this and understanding your coverage.
